Unternehmensbeschreibung

Die Intel Corporation ist ein US-amerikanisches Unternehmen, das Halbleiter herstellt und seinen Hauptsitz in Santa Clara, Kalifornien, im Silicon Valley hat. Gegründet wurde es 1968 von ehemaligen Mitarbeitern der Firma Fairchild Semiconductor. Die Europazentrale befindet sich seit 1974 in München. Intel ist vor allem durch seine PC-Mikroprozessoren bekannt, bei denen das Unternehmen einen weltweiten Marktanteil von über 60 % besitzt (Stand: 2024). Zusätzlich produziert Intel eine Vielzahl weiterer Mikrochips, darunter Chipsätze für Mainboards (wie „Intel ICH“ und „Intel GMA“), WLAN- und Netzwerkkarten, Grafikprozessoren und Embedded-CPUs.
